Quentin Townsend- Preparation Plus Opportunity Equals Success

When Quentin Townsend became the President and COO of American Basketball Association in 2008, he was more than ready to take the challenge. He said he believe in the philosophy by Whitney Young saying “It is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one, than to have an opportunity and not be prepared.” He also added that he has an opportunity, and he was prepared therefore no matter what he wants, he make sure to be ready anytime a break knocks.

He is one of the most promising individual in the field of business at present and Atlanta Business Chronicle included him in the top “40 under 40 up and comers” of Georgia. It is an award given to the rising individual who shows a lot of potential in the industry.

Way back in 2004, Quentin Townsend becomes associated with the ABA when he purchased a franchise. He then named the team Atlanta Vision and for a remarkable three moths of handling the business and managing the team, it showed continuous development with its performance. It even beat the Florida Pit Bulls in the Barnes-Malone Division. They also entered the ABA’s Great 8 Tournament which is conducted at the Blue Cross Arena in New York. Later on, the team obtains a Division title which is quite remarkable for a new formed team. He gets to afford the franchise because of his success in his former job as a realtor. Just like what he said, it is better to be prepared when opportunity comes your way.

During his administration as a President of ABA, Quentin Townsend was the one responsible for the assurance that everything that is involve in the association works well and meet the requirements and standards of the entity. He made sure to gather enough sponsorship and sufficient media attention to guarantee great revenue in the end. A lot of plan and structuring occurs when he is in position and it all adds up to the success of the company. In addition to that, he never neglects the chance to give back to the people of Atlanta who have been supportive for his entire quest. Whenever the team plays in their hometown, he made sure that it is held in local schools who in return receive the 50% of proceeds. Maybe this is the reason why success is always in his side, because he never forgets to look back.
