As in any type of business, there are down times, days when there’s nothing to do, at least when it comes to dealing with customers. Let’s take a look at some of those things, and how you can capitalize on those situations.
Weekends
Businesses have different weekend days. For those whose products or services are used by office people, their weekends are the regular Saturdays and Sundays. But for those whose customer base uses their products or services during their free time, the weekends are shifted to the usual workdays, such as Mondays and Tuesdays.
Study your market; identify the days on which there are few customers and think of things you can do. You may work from home and spent an hour taking care of voice mail messages. You may also conduct your team meetings during days when there are few customers you need to attend to.
Holidays
Holidays are the best time for businesses to gear up for the next year. Unless your business sells Christmas goodies, you can use the holiday season to plan for the next year. Think of the product upgrades that you can implement, the new services you may offer, and other selling points which can help you establish your brand among customers.
Another thing you can do during off-peak days is to get feedback from customers. Naturally, you won’t receive as many calls, so take the time to contact your existing customers and ask them for their opinions on the different aspects of your business. Try, as much as possible, to get a response; if they don’t answer your call, leave voice mail messages. Gather information regarding your customer service, the quality of your product, and other areas that affect your profit generation. Use the information to retarget your efforts towards improving on the areas that need to be addressed, and excelling even more in areas where you are already performing well.
There is really no such thing as idle business time, most especially on the part of the owner and the staff.

People are often concerned about the different sources of energy. All over the world there is a big debate going on about the ways in which energy can be conserved. There are people who have been into the field of energy conservation for a long period of time. One of them who have been instrumental in developing a keen interest in the conservation of the energy and sources of energy is Joseph Schnaier. It is a well-known fact that currently we are dependent on the conventional sources of energy like coal. Joseph Schnaier has been an ardent supporter of the alternative sources of energy. In the year 1970 he went on to found the natural resources defense council. This is a premiere organization which consists of about 350 of the top scientist and lawyers and has been known to have a membership of more than 1.3 million all over the world. The main purpose of the organization is to protect the energy resources and the wildlife and the natural habitat of the animals and plants all over the world using the existing laws as well as science and technology. The network consists of people who deal with the different issues related to the conservation of energy and wildlife.

How to conserve energy?

There are a lot of things which need to be taken care of while conserving the energy. One of the main things which the organization has set its mind on is to fight the global warming which is being caused by the industrial pollutants and excessive use of conventional energy resources. The depletion of the conventional energy sources in the modern times is something which every concerned citizen must be worried about. This was the main idea behind the formation of this network by Joseph Schnaier. The people need to understand the importance of conservation.

Role of Joseph Schnaier

As the lawyer of the network Joseph Schnaier has been able to achieve a lot which has benefitted the common people. In fact because of the networks and his personal efforts the NCRD was able to get the clean air act in the year 1971 which has a provision using which people can sue the polluters directly in case they cause or are responsible for any kind of pollution. In the recent times Joseph Schnaier has been involved with one of the largest solar power projects in the Mojave Desert and there he is the chairman of the board for the Brightsource energy.

If you are a business manager then you will know the importance to company productivity of effective business management. However, business process management software and financial management are only one part of the task. The best way to go about business management is to make sure that the staff you lead are happy and have clearly defined goals. With great people skills, effective management is a hard task to accomplish. If you are struggling to meet the demands of your business management obligations, then here are some tips about how you can improve your management skills.

1. Not changing from a worker to a manager

If you have recently moved into business management, then it can be tough to make the transition from ordinary worker to manager. Although you want your employees to feel that you can identify with them, you need to remember that you are now in control and have more responsibilities than before. For effective business management you have to think about more than just your own needs and expectations, and begin to be responsible for your team as well. If you can do this, then you will make the transition from worker to manager more easily.

2. Not setting clear goals and expectations

Although you might know exactly what your team should be doing, unless you tell them what you want they will be left goalless and unproductive. For business management processes to work, you need to clearly define your expectations and goals to your team. If your employees cannot see the goals they need to attain, they will have no sense of achievement or of where their work is taking them. If you want your employees to do more than simply pick up their wages each month, you need to use clear goal setting as a major part of your management strategy. These goals should incorporate not only the expectations of each person, but the goals for the use of business process management software and future financial goals.

3. Not enough delegation

You might think you can run the business on your own, but this just isn’t true. Perhaps the biggest business management mistake is a failure to delegate duties to other employees. The attitude that ‘if you don’t do it yourself it won’t be done right’ will only make your working hours spiral out of control, whilst leaving your employees feeling unappreciated and unmotivated. Trust your employees to carry out the tasks you set them, and use your talents in business management and leadership to push the business forward. The more you delegate duties, the more time you will have to control your management actions and make the team work more efficiently.

4. Failure to learn

What worked five years ago might not work today, and so you need to stay up to date with the latest business management techniques. This is particularly true in the areas of financial management and business process management software. Keeping business process management software current will allow you to stay competitive and keep efficiency levels high. Don’t be afraid to learn new techniques and embrace technology. If you do this, you will find that your management skills will improve and your team will remain effective for many years to come.
